Behind an Accelerated Build: How We Built a Long-Term Care Home in Ontario in 13 Months

How do you build a six-story long-term care home in 13 months during a COVID-19 pandemic? Using hospital land, rapid procurement and design development, schedule innovation, a modular kit-of-parts approach and a talented and engaged workforce, the outcomes achieved on the Lakeridge Health Accelerated Build Long-Term Care project truly personify what strong partnerships can achieve. Watch the project’s journey from start to finish in this short documentary that provides insight from Infrastructure Ontario, Lakeridge Health and PCL into the strategy that enabled Ontario’s first Accelerated Build project to be completed in just over a year of construction. Thank you to our government partners and countless stakeholders, consultants and trade partners whose passionate pursuit of providing long-term care residents with a modern, comfortable and safe place to call home has enabled this project to be complete in in months, instead of years.
