Autonomous Oil sands Operation Relies on Proven Technology and Partnership Approach

Imperial Oil, Finning Canada, and Caterpillar came together as one team to mine better in the Canadian oil sands. Kearl was the first application of Cat MineStar Command for hauling in the extreme weather and challenging conditions found in the oil sands. And it was the first time Caterpillar had implemented command for hauling on a Cat 797F 364-tonne (401-ton) truck. But while the application was new the technology itself had already been proven on a number of mine sites around the world and it was being supported by a team of experts committed to its success.
