Since its inception in 2002, Sustainable Buildings Canada (SBC) has educated, supported, and empowered building professionals and policy makers across Canada to achieve greater levels of energy and environmental performance.

We are excited to introduce two new board members to the website visitors, social media followers and subscribers of Construction Links Network.

Bettina Hoar, BSc (Hons), MBA, CSBA

Bettina is the founder of Sage Living Toronto, a sustainable building consulting firm with a focus on health & wellbeing in the built environment. Highly service and client-oriented, Bettina enjoys facilitating knowledge and collaboration, empowering homeowners and builders to make well researched ‘wise green’ decisions when renovating or building new, enabling more productive, more enjoyable, healthier places to live and work.  Bettina is a Subject Matter Expert on Indoor Environmental Quality with Enbridge’s Savings by Design program and founding member of the GreenBuildingLearningZone.org, a green building education collaborative.  An avid traveller, Bettina has lived and worked in the US, Germany, Spain, Bahamas, Uruguay and Canada. In her spare time, she plays bridge and is an avid volunteer for several non-profit organizations that benefit culture, art and education.

Christine Abe, B.L.A., O.A.L.A., C.S.L.A., A.S.L.A.

Christine is a landscape architect and Principal at The MBTW Group with over 30 years of experience in the field of Landscape Architecture. She has a wide range of experience in various scales of projects including numerous site plan, mixed use, institutional, school, park, condominium design, streetscape and commercial centre projects. In addition, she has been involved in the master planning of parks, new communities, schools, and institutional projects. As a Principal at The MBTW Group, Christine is involved in all aspects of landscape architecture from the design and conceptualization of a project, to the working drawings, and finally through to the contract administration phase of a project.

A Warm Farewell

Elizabeth McDonald has stepped down as a Member of the SBC Board.  The Board extend sincere thanks to Elizabeth for all her efforts and support and wishes her all the best for the future.
