Download your copy – Lower Costs for eTickets

Transportation agencies are increasingly looking for time-and-life-saving technologies to help lower costs and reduce accidents on US roadways. Technology, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication for collision avoidance, work zone intrusion detection systems, and using social media to crowd source traffic incidents and issues are shaping the future of road travel.

One technology that has been under consideration by many states is eTicketing. Transportation agencies have slowly been moving to paperless processes, with most states beginning with the bid process and associated documents on construction projects to accept electronic signatures and submission.

The success of removing the manual paper-based workflows is transpiring to material tickets delivered to jobsites. When COVID-19 arrived, many states increased the speed of adoption of electronic tickets with efforts to reduce contact between workers. The methods used to create “contactless ticketing” can vary. Some states recommend taking a photo of a paper ticket and emailing or texting it to generating a PDF of that ticket, to more advanced eTicketing programs that send data directly. Viewing ticket data from mobile devices has numerous advantages:

  • Ticket data can typically be seen before the truck arrives on the jobsite.
  • DOT workers do not have to travel to the site to collect tickets from drivers.
  • Recording test data electronically makes it visible to all project participants as it’s collected.
  • Ticket and test data can be sent to other programs digitally, eliminating the need to re-key.

Command Alkon has been on the forefront of eTicketing for years, building on the relationships already established with many of our producer partners. Many solutions arriving on the market for eTicketing post COVID-19 were created as a response to social distancing. Contact Command Alkon to learn more about our long history with eTicketing, and future goals!
