The Energy Management Association (EMA) and Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center will host a free AIA-approved webinar on October 6, 2026, examining the medical center’s long-term approach to energy management, district energy and resilient building operations.
Titled The Hershey Medical Center Energy Journey: District Energy, ECMs, and Resilient Operations in an Uncertain Energy Environment, the webinar will explore an energy transformation that began in 2009 and has developed into a comprehensive strategy for modernizing infrastructure, reducing energy costs, improving reliability and resiliency, and advancing sustainability goals.
Presenter Kevin Kanoff, CEM, CEP, Campus Energy Engineer at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, will discuss strategies used throughout the medical center’s energy journey.
Topics will include Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs), district energy, behind-the-meter power generation, demand management and approaches for aligning building performance with broader institutional objectives.
Participants will learn how common ECMs can be evaluated for potential return on investment and how multiple measures can be layered and optimized to improve overall energy performance.
The session will also examine the efficiency benefits of district energy and the role of behind-the-meter generation in supporting facility operations.
With energy markets and operating conditions continuing to evolve, the webinar will address energy risk management and strategies organizations can consider when planning for an uncertain energy environment.
The free webinar takes place October 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. ET and provides one AIA Learning Unit (1 LU).
The session is designed for building owners, facility managers, energy managers, commissioning providers, MEP engineers, HVAC testing professionals and other building performance professionals.
Registration is available through the Energy Management Association
