According to Kris Troppman, regional technology manager for Finning, one of the ways to get the most out of your telematics is to avoid being distracted by metrics that don’t meet your business needs. “Data is critical to your success, yet how that information is applied is the greatest challenge facing companies today,” notes Kris.

Another consideration is tracking your idle time. “Connecting your machines can help you track idle time and give you a view of the health of your machine,” says Kris. “Tracking your idle time helps reduce idling, which not only saves you money and decreases emissions, but it also extends engine life and reduces repair and maintenance costs and unnecessary depreciation.”
