Egis, a global leader in architecture, consulting, engineering, and mobility services, has announced the appointment of Alaa AbuSiam as CEO of its newly established Americas Region, encompassing North and South America. This strategic leadership change is part of Egis’ broader Impact the Future plan, aimed at positioning the company among the world’s top 10 construction engineering firms and doubling its turnover by 2029. The reorganization splits the former AMPAC region, with James Chopty, previous AMPAC CEO, now stepping into a new role as Group Chief Operating Officer to enhance operational efficiency and financial performance across Egis.
Alaa AbuSiam brings a proven track record of transformational leadership from his tenure as CEO of the Middle East and South Asia (MESA) region. Under his direction, Egis experienced exponential growth, completing six strategic acquisitions and earning a top-5 ENR ranking in the Middle East. His focus on regional talent development, integration, and organic expansion helped solidify Egis’ reputation in complex markets.
In his new role, AbuSiam aims to significantly expand Egis’ footprint in the Americas, with a plan to invest more than $800 million in regional acquisitions and drive sales to $1.1 billion by 2028. His vision emphasizes growth, impact, and local job creation, particularly in the Canadian market.
Alaa AbuSiam joined Egis in 2020 as COO for the Middle East, later becoming CEO of the region in 2021. He holds a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, an Executive MBA from the University of Oxford, and advanced credentials from institutions including MIT, Harvard Business School, and INSEAD. He is also a certified PMP and Climate Change Professional, with active memberships in global engineering and sustainability organizations.
Egis’ strategic restructuring and the appointment of a results-driven leader like AbuSiam highlight its commitment to scaling operations in the Americas, fostering innovation, and supporting infrastructure development across the region.
