COMMAND Center Blog – North Carolina DOT Project Uses COMMAND Center for Concrete Temperature Monitoring

S.T. Wooten Corporation used COMMAND Center on a North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) project in Havelock, NC. The project included mass placement for two footings for which temperature monitoring was required.

 

 

S.T. Wooten Corporation used COMMAND Center on a North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) project in Havelock, NC. The project included mass placement for two footings each measuring 20’ x 20’ x 6’ for which temperature monitoring was required. COMMAND Center was used to monitor and report temperature gain in the massive footings.

Maintaining appropriate temperatures and temperature ranges within mass concrete is a key to maintaining its durability and longevity. The risk of temperature-related concrete damage increases if the temperature of concrete gets too high or the temperature differential between the hottest interior point and the surface and/or edge gets too large. S.T. Wooten used COMMAND Center to ensure their concrete stayed within the allowable range.
