Advanced Construction Robotics Meets with Legislative Representatives

Advanced Construction Robotics (ACR), a trailblazer in robotics technology for construction, recently hosted key economic and political leaders including Audrey Russo, Brian Kennedy from the Pittsburgh Technology Council, Rich Fitzgerald of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission, John Myler from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Senator Lindsey Williams, Representative Robert Mercuri, and Patrick Joyal from the Office of Governor Josh Shapiro. This visit highlighted ACR’s cutting-edge robotics technology, which is revolutionizing the construction industry across the United States.

During the tour, attendees witnessed the transformative impact of advanced robotics in creating local jobs and fostering economic growth. Fitzgerald emphasized the importance of supporting organizations like ACR in developing talent and expanding the workforce in the robotics industry. ACR’s innovative technology is a perfect fit for Governor Shapiro’s economic development plan, targeting new technologies that impact infrastructure markets.

ACR’s robots, TyBOT® and IronBOT®, are designed to address labor shortages and infrastructure demands by enhancing productivity and safety on job sites. These robots perform labor-intensive tasks such as tying rebar and carrying and placing rebar, traditionally demanding on workers. The local Ironworkers Employers Association (IWEA) and the International Ironworkers are collaborating with ACR to train workers in using these advanced tools.

Representative Mercuri expressed his admiration for ACR’s innovative technology in rebar applications, recognizing its potential to accelerate project completion, create new job categories for building trades professionals, and enhance worker safety and productivity.

ACR, founded by Stephen Muck, Chairman and CEO of Brayman Construction Corporation, has realized its vision of improving labor productivity and infrastructure quality, with contractors and the Ironworkers Union actively using its products.

ACR is planning a workforce development program with the Pittsburgh Technology Council, Pittsburgh Robotics Network, and Southwestern PA Commission. The company is transitioning from product development and Robots as a Service (RaaS) model to full-scale manufacturing and sales, with ongoing discussions with major corporations for product market acceleration. This initiative aligns with Governor Shapiro’s program to support local innovation and manufacturing, particularly in the highly technical robotics solutions sector.

The visit concluded with a demonstration of TyBOT at ACR’s headquarters and a video presentation of IronBOT in action. Danielle Proctor, President and CEO of ACR, highlighted the significant productivity and cost savings when combining these robots on job sites. The company looks forward to collaborating with these agencies to create future positions like Robot SupervisorTM and expand the robotics workforce beyond traditional engineering roles.
