The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies-Ontario (ACEC-Ontario) has pledged ongoing support to the Ontario government, emphasizing the crucial role of consulting engineering in the province’s progress. Their 2024 pre-budget submission outlines recommendations to enhance project delivery efficiency, reduce repair costs, foster a robust and diverse workforce, and safeguard public interests. Andrew Hurd, ACEC-Ontario’s Executive Director, highlights the integral role of their 140 member firms in the government’s expansive $184 billion infrastructure investment. ACEC-Ontario’s strategy includes standardizing contracts, promoting resilient infrastructure design, and encouraging diverse STEM participation. This approach aims to optimize the government’s investment, ensuring a sustainable legacy for future generations. Representing nearly 140 firms employing over 25,000 people, ACEC-Ontario plays a key role in contributing to the Ontario economy and advocates for a conducive business environment, enhancing the province’s social, economic, and environmental landscape.
