The renovation of the Supreme Court of Canada’s building in Ottawa has been delayed due to unforeseen challenges, pushing the timeline back three years. Originally slated for 2023-2028, the project now has no confirmed start date. The Supreme Court’s temporary relocation to the West Memorial Building, which also needs significant upgrades, won’t occur until 2026. Delays were caused by COVID-19, structural redesigns, and hazardous material removal. The project’s $1 billion budget covers both buildings’ renovations, but uncertainty remains around the final completion dates.
