Skills Ontario’s #SkillsRobotChallenge asks Ontarians to construct and name a robot

The sixteenth installment of Skills Ontario’s #SkillsAtHome challenge series, the #SkillsRobotChallenge, launches today. For this challenge, participants are asked to create a robot out of any materials they’d like, such as LEGOs or building blocks. Robots do not need to complete a specific task, but the challenge encourages each participant to use their imagination in naming their robot and describing its purpose and how it works. Submissions must be posted to Twitter or TikTok by December 14th.

“We’ve seen outstanding submissions come in for the #SkillsAtHome Challenge series,” says Ian Howcroft, CEO of Skills Ontario. “We’re thrilled to provide Ontarians with activities that build skills and open doors to career exploration. Through our challenges, participants can develop their skills, explore skilled trades and technologies, and vie for amazing prizes.”

Winners of #SkillsAtHome challenges are awarded prizes provided by Skills Ontario and its partners. Skills Ontario thanks its #SkillsAtHome program partners: the Government of Ontario, 3M Canada, Centennial College, Haas, Humber College, IHSA, Linamar, Magna, OPG, RBC, and WSIB, as well as its #SkillsRobotChallenge partners: Algonquin College, Bruce Power, Conestoga College, IBEW Local 353, Confederation College, Fanshawe College, Georgian College, Mohawk College, OACETT, Seneca College, Sheridan College, and Snap-on.

All challenge details can be found in both official languages at skillsontario.com/skillsathome. Along with Twitter and TikTok, Skills Ontario can also be found on Instagram at @skillsontario, on LinkedIn at “Skills Ontario”, on Facebook at “Skills Canada – Ontario” and on YouTube at Skills Ontario.

Skills Ontario looks forward to continuing to provide fun and interactive learning opportunities to build a strong and robust workforce.
