Skills Ontario hosts Virtual Business Summit: Post COVID-19 strategies—A Skills Based Recovery

Skills Ontario is pleased to host its first Virtual Skills Summit, a free online conference highlighting a skills based recovery roadmap for businesses following the COVID-19 pandemic. The summit, to be held on June 30th at 2:00 pm (EST), will include industry experts representing several areas including manufacturing, technology, construction, financial, education, and service sectors, and will discuss what a successful emergence from COVID-19 will look like for businesses.

Speakers include President and CEO of OCAS and Chair of Skills Ontario, Karen Creditor; the Honourable Minister McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development; Dr. Jayson Myers, CEO of NGen; and Jeremy Hedges, CEO of Inksmith.  After the keynote presentation and “Launching a Skills Based Recovery” panel, Skills Ontario will be answering questions leveraging the expertise of the speakers and panelists.

“We’re looking forward to sharing ideas, challenges, and successes, and connecting business owners to skilled professionals through our Virtual Skills Summit,” says Ian Howcroft, CEO of Skills Ontario. “With an incredible panel of experts, this conference will provide a largescale, beneficial framework for businesses to productively and efficiently emerge in a post-COVID-19 world.”

With partners such as the Government of Ontario, RBC, OCAS, Linamar, 3M, OACETT, Haas, and IHSA, the Skills Ontario: Virtual Skills Summit will deliver a strong and all-encompassing business-focused outline for viewers across Ontario. Among the panelists are Kim Pickett with OACETT, Andrew Pariser with Rescon, a representative with RBC, Candace Carson with OYAP Coordinators Provincial Affiliations, and Lina Shamoun with Artline Salon and Skills Ontario Alumni.
