Skills Ontario celebrates Appreciation Evening 2019 and presents Glenn Beatty Award

Skills Ontario was proud to host volunteers, Alumni, and sponsors at the Hamilton Family Theatre for the annual Skills Ontario Appreciation Evening on December 5, where guests were given an opportunity to network, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, and watch a live stage performance.

Skills Ontario also hosted a raffle of prizes generously donated by the Toronto Congress Centre, Drayton Entertainment, Vision Travel, Niagara College, and Artline Salon, where all proceeds went towards Skills Ontario programming. Furthermore, Skills Ontario proudly recognized Alumni through signs posted around the venue and Jennifer Green, the Director of Competitions and Young Women’s Initiatives at Skills Ontario, passed on her Presidency of the Skills Ontario Alumni Association to welcome Nathan Verseghy as the new President.

Before the show, Karen Creditor, the President of the Board of Directors of Skills Ontario, and Ian Howcroft, CEO of Skills Ontario, presented the Glenn Beatty Award to two recipients.

The Glenn Beatty Award is presented annually to a volunteer or volunteers who exhibit outstanding dedication and passion for Skills Ontario’s mission. For more information on the award, please visit skillsontario.com/scholarships-and-awards.

The two recipients of the 2019 Glenn Beatty Award, Angelo Spano and Richard Dupp, both have volunteered with Skills Ontario, Skills Canada, and WorldSkills, and have given many hours of their time committed to making a difference in the lives of students and young apprentices.

The annual Skills Ontario Appreciation Evening is an opportunity for Skills Ontario to thank the individuals who donate their time and their expertise to share in the organization’s mission to encourage more young people to consider a career in the skilled trades and technologies. Skills Ontario is grateful for each volunteer, Alumni, and sponsor for their passion, drive, and generosity.
