Nine organizations will receive grants of up to $40,000 from the Government of British Columbia’s Building Excellence Research and Education Grants program.

The program is distributing more than $331,950 in funding through BC Housing, following a review of submissions for 2018.

Launched in January 2015, this program has provided 51 organizations with more than $2.28 million in funding for a range of innovative projects.

The grants program supports and encourages research and education that improves the quality of residential construction, and enhances consumer protection for buyers of new homes in British Columbia.

Industry and consumer organizations, education providers and researchers can apply for up to $40,000 in funding annually for projects.

The following organizations are receiving grant funding in 2018:

  • Building Officials’ Association of BC

A series of videos showcasing grant program success stories will soon be available on the BC Housing website. This includes the BC Construction Association (BCCA), which used its grant funding to explore innovative construction practices in British Columbia and beyond. BCCA developed a strategy and action plan to share this knowledge and foster a culture of innovation in B.C.: www.bccassn.com/media/bcca-report-construction-innovation-2016.pdf

BC Housing will start accepting submissions in October 2018 for the next round of funding in 2019. Application dates will be announced online at: www.bchousing.org
