Port Credit West Village Partners and Port Credit Community Foundation deliver 600 meals to frontline hospital workers

The Port Credit West Village Partners (PCWVP) – the development team behind the upcoming master-planned community, Brightwater – and the Port Credit Community Foundation (PCCF) teamed up to deliver 600 meals to Trillium Health Partners Mississauga Hospital staff yesterday evening. The two organizations provided hot dinners from local Port Credit restaurants, Shore Grill & Grotto and My Secret Kitchen, to show gratitude to the healthcare workers who are fighting COVID-19, while at the same time supporting local businesses during these challenging times.

The meal delivery follows a donation of $10,000 by the PCCF. As well, the PCWVP (Brightwater) will match that with an additional $10,000 donation to Trillium Health Partners Mississauga Hospital.

“The Port Credit Community Foundation is committed to enriching the quality of life enjoyed by residents in our community. The dedicated efforts by the Trillium Health Partners teams, through personal sacrifice and hard work, go beyond enriching lives to actually sustaining them. You have our utmost respect and appreciation,” says Karen Priest, Port Credit Community Foundation and Donation Co-ordinator of the THP Frontline meal distribution effort.

“The health care workers at Trillium Health Partners have been on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic for months now, providing care under challenging circumstances. Generous support from a number of community partners helps express our thanks to our frontline staff and gives them the energy and support to continue their incredible efforts,” says Caroline Riseboro, President and CEO of the Trillium Health Partners Foundation.

Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie, Councillor Stephen Dasko, the PCWVP (Brightwater) (including Christina Giannone, VP of Planning and Development of PCWVP; Bob Blazevski, President and COO of DiamondCorp; and, Paul Michel, Vice-President of Finance of FRAM+Slokker), and from the PCCF, Karen Priest, President of Diamond Marketing and Jake Pedler, Chair of Port Credit BIA Board were in attendance for the meal delivery and to show their support for the frontline workers at the hospital’s outdoor Butterfly Garden.

“We have an incredible and resilient community here in Port Credit and throughout Mississauga. We know these are extremely challenging times for our local businesses, community members and organizations. And we recognize our responsibility to create a positive impact and to come together as a community to support one another. We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to the incredibly hard workers at Trillium Health Partners who are working selflessly day in and day out,” says Christina Giannone, VP of Planning and Development of the PCWVP (Brightwater).

“I want to thank Brightwater- Port Credit West Village Partners and the Port Credit Community Foundation for once again stepping up to show Mississauga how much they care. Our frontline workers at THP are working long hours, under challenging conditions and are spending time away from their families to keep us healthy and safe. They deserve our support, and in times like these, a warm meal can go a long way. In addition to showing their support for our frontline workers, today’s donation also will help support our local restaurants in Port Credit,” says Mayor Bonnie Crombie.

“Every day and especially during COVID-19, Trillium Health Partners are working hard and attending to our community. Thank you from the bottom of our heart for all you do for us,” adds Stephen Dasko, Councillor Ward 1.

Yesterday’s meal delivery is just one of several initiatives in which the PCWVP and the PCCF have been involved, as individuals, businesses and organizations continue to be impacted by the pandemic. They are also participating in Support the Port, a newly-launched gift card program with the Port Credit BIA and Edenshaw that supports small businesses across the neighbourhood, and matches donations to The Compass Food Bank.
