Starting October 1, 2024, construction sites in B.C. with 25 or more workers must provide flush toilets and hand-washing facilities, replacing unsanitary portable toilets. The regulation aims to improve health and safety for workers, particularly in attracting and retaining employees, including women in trades. WorkSafeBC will work with construction companies to ensure compliance, offering flexibility when flush toilets aren’t feasible. This change follows public consultations and will significantly enhance sanitation on job sites, benefiting both worker morale and project efficiency.
