Keystone Architecture and Planning named as Grand Prize Award Winner at the EIFS Council of Canada Architectural Design Awards Program Dinner

(June 17, 2019, Toronto, ON) Architects, designers, developers, and EIFS industry professionals gathered on the night of June 12th in Toronto to recognize and celebrate the Finalists and Grand Prize Award Winners of the 2018-19 ECC Architectural Design Awards. At the event, the EIFS Council of Canada (ECC) announced Keystone Architecture and Planning and their project Best Western Merritt as the Grand Prize Award Winner from among seven finalist projects.

The ECC Architectural Design Awards Program received submissions from a variety of projects across Canada in all project categories. The finalist projects exhibited excellence in the areas of community impact, design, environmental sustainability, significance and contribution to the community, and technical excellence in the innovative use of EIFS. The project finalists are as follows:

In a unanimous decision, the Best Western Merritt project was selected by the esteemed five-member judging panel from amongst the seven finalists. Adex Systems is the EIFS Manufacturer, with the EIFS installation completed by Cityview Exteriors of Kelowna.

“The judging panel could easily observe that using EIFS in this project allowed the architect to fully express their creativity,” stated Mr. Steven Kirshenblatt, spokesperson for the ECC Awards Judging Panel, “The use of contemporary elements and varied choice in colours to match the surrounding site context is especially commendable.”

“We are indeed pleased to have Keystone Architecture and Planning and the Best Western Merritt as our Grand Prize Winner,” said John M. Garbin, President and CEO of the EIFS Council of Canada, “This is a beautiful project that utilizes the best in EIFS on a building that will serve as an anchor project for future commercial expansion in the area. Congratulations again to the entire Keystone design team as well as to the efforts of Adex Systems and Cityview Exteriors for their excellent on site performance and execution.”
