In search of carpenters to help build an outdoor shed

Community Food Hub is looking for carpenters who are willing to volunteer their time to design and build an outdoor shed for a community fridge and pantry before July 31, 2023 in Scarborough, Ontario (outside Progress Church). Approximate shed size: 4 foot W, 5 foot L ,and 8 foot H. Interested volunteers can reach out to communityfoodhubscarborough@gmail.com.

Community Food Hub, a volunteer-led organization, is on a mission to decrease food insecurity and avoidable food waste by setting-up outdoor community fridges/pantries across Scarborough. Anyone can access the community fridge/pantry, no questions asked. Take what you need, leave what you can.

Vision:

Live in a world where all have the means to access their food preferences and avoidable food waste/loss is no longer a problem.

Mission:

Find innovative solutions so that no one is food insecure and eliminate avoidable food waste/loss in Scarborough.

Goals:

  1. Provide low barrier community fridges/pantries to anyone who is facing food insecurity.
  2. Reduce overall food waste/loss by redistributing avoidable food waste/loss to community fridges/pantries.
  3. Allow members in the community to directly support community fridges/pantries by donating, volunteering, and supporting.
