IAPMO seeks UPC Legionella Task Group members to examine waterborne pathogens and associated scald risk provisions

Ontario, Calif. (June 11, 2018) — The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) is accepting applications from technical experts interested in participating on a task group relating to Legionella, waterborne pathogens, and scald risk provisions.

The scope of the Legionella Task Group is to review and develop recommendations on Item No. 228 to determine methods available to address the health and safety impacts of water temperature on Legionella and scald risks. The task group’s recommendations will be forwarded to the UPC technical committee for consideration.

Task group members will participate via conference call or web meeting, provide their perspective on the code, and assist in drafting recommendations for action by the UPC technical committee. Applicants are not required to be members of the UPC technical committee.

The deadline to submit an application is July 9.

Published by IAPMO in 1945, the UPC is developed to govern the erection, installation, alteration, repair, relocation, replacement, addition to, use, or maintenance of plumbing systems as a means of promoting the public’s health, safety, and welfare. Developed and subsequently republished at the conclusion of each three-year code cycle, the Uniform Codes are designed to provide consumers with safe plumbing, mechanical, and solar energy systems while, at the same time, allowing latitude for innovation and new technologies.

Interested individuals may contact Enrique Gonzalez at (909) 230-5535 or by email at enrique.gonzalez@iapmo.org.
