The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) is seeking committee members for the development of American National Standards and National Standards of Canada. IAPMO is seeking volunteers from a variety of interest categories to serve on the following standards committee consensus bodies:
Building Standards Committee (BSC) — enforcing authorities, installer/maintainer, and user, including Canadian representation in the same interest categories.
Hydronics Standards Committee (HSC) — enforcing authorities, installer/maintainer, and research/standards/testing laboratory, including Canadian representation in the same interest categories.
ISO 30500 National Adoption Committee — consumer and installer/maintainer, including Canadian representation in the same interest categories.
Plumbing Standards Committee (PSC) — consumer, enforcing authorities, including Canadian representation in the same interest categories.
Solar Standards Committee — consumer, research/standards/testing laboratory, and user, including Canadian representation in the same interest categories.
The IAPMO consensus bodies are responsible for the development of industry related standards and oversee the work of the technical subcommittees. The consensus bodies operate in accordance with IAPMO’s accredited procedures for standards development: IAPMO PP-1 (Policies and Procedures for Consensus Development of American National Standards) and IAPMO PP-2 (Policies and Procedures for Development of National Standards of Canada)
Founded in 1926, IAPMO is a worldwide leader in protecting health and safety by producing codes and standards. For more than 30 years, IAPMO has developed American National Standards (ANS), initially as the Secretariat for the ANSI Z124 Technical Committee in 1984, and since 2005 independently under its own American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited standards development procedures. In 2018, IAPMO received accreditation through the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) for development of National Standards of Canada, thus accepting the responsibility for development of CAN/IAPMO designated standards.
Interested parties wishing to serve on any of the standards committees, please submit your application along with a copy of your résumé. The deadline to apply is Oct. 10. Applications can be downloaded here.
