IAPMO seeking committee members for development of ANSI/IAPMO Z1123 standard for compliance with California Proposition 65

Ontario, Calif. (July 22, 2019) — The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) is seeking volunteers — jurisdictional authorities, testing lab and educational facility representatives, and manufacturing experts — to participate on the technical committee for the development of ANSI/IAPMO Z1123 (Method for Risk Assessment, Laboratory Assessment, and Labeling Procedures to Verify Compliance of Products or Materials with California Proposition 65 Requirements).

The scope of ANSI/IAPMO Z1123 includes establishing the risk assessment, laboratory assessment and labeling procedures for verifying product compliance with California Proposition 65 (The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act). This standard applies to plumbing products, water treatment products, food-service products, and building materials. This standard is intended to cover chemicals under the Proposition 65 list.

The technical committee will be responsible for the development of ANSI/IAPMO Z1123 as an American National Standard and will operate in accordance with IAPMO’s accredited procedures for standards development and ANSI Essential Requirements:

For more than 30 years, IAPMO has developed plumbing product standards as American National Standards, initially as the secretariat for the ANSI Z124 Technical Committee in 1984, and since 2005 independently under its own American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited standards development procedures.

Founded in 1926, IAPMO is a worldwide leader in the promotion of heathy and safe plumbing and mechanical systems. IAPMO has developed industry standards for more than 30 years, with a focus on plumbing products, water efficiency, solar heating systems and components, mechanical products (including heating, ventilation, cooling and refrigeration system products), and products used in the recreational vehicle and manufactured housing industry.

The deadline to apply is Sept. 27. Those interested in participating may apply at the following URL and by selecting IAPMO/ANSI Z1123 Committee: http://forms.iapmo.org/iapmo/committee/app_ps_committee.aspx
