Feds invest $1 million for Z’gamok Construction of Massey

Sudbury MP Viviane Lapointe announced a $1 million investment by the Government of Canada Friday for the purchase of 10 heavy trucks for Z’gamok Construction LP, a First Nation owned company based in Massey.

The announcement was made on behalf of the  Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor, and is expected to create 10 or more full-time jobs, said a news release from the Lapointe’s office.

“This investment of $1 million will help Z’gamok Construction LP to scale up, create jobs, and pave the way for the long-term prosperity of both the company and the Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation. Businesses are creating the jobs that ensure communities thrive. That’s how we will ensure a Northern Ontario economy that works for everyone,” Hajdu said in the release.

Specifically, the FedNor funding will allow Z’gamok Construction to capitalize on immediate and potential future opportunities through Impact and Benefits Agreements with Vale Canada, and KGHM International Ltd. for its Victoria Mine project, located just west of Sudbury.
