Builders in the Basement

Construction leaders of tomorrow contributing to the community

On Saturday, September 24th, the Vancouver Island Construction Association’s (VICA) Young Builders Network (YBN) is hosting their annual music event to raise funds for the Help Fill A Dream Foundation.

Now in it’s fourth year, the network hopes to exceed previous year’s fundraising goal and surpass the $15,000 raised during their virtual event in 2021.

“Given the last few years the YBN has not been able to host in-person events, there has been a lot of excitement to ensure that this is going to be a night to remember.”, said YBN Chair AJ Winters. “The construction industry has had a bit of a rocky last couple of years, but I feel we are overall privileged especially compared to organizations like Help Fill a Dream. We very much look forward to a fun and intimate evening in which we can give back to local families who are in need of their communities help”

This year’s concert, hosted at Swan’s Pub, will be 90’s themed titled Builder’s in the Basement! The event will feature exciting Vancouver Island artists including:

  • Tal Bachman
  • Randy Bachman
  • Paulo Michaels
  • Morien Jones
  • Paul Black Trio
  • Trophy Dad
  • DJ Steel Toes
  • Rotten Little Kings

The group is thrilled to announce their headliner – Canadian star Tal Bachman (with a special guest appearance by Randy Bachman). In addition to the musical talent, there will be arcade games, prizes, music videos, food and a live auction to cap off the night! All proceeds will be donated to Help Fill a Dream.

“We’re proud of our networks for taking on initiatives to support local families through community partners like Help Fill A Dream,” said VICA CEO Rory Kulmala. “The construction industry has been running at full tilt, and we look forward to enjoying a night of good music and good times with our colleagues.”

Tickets are still available to purchase, with proceeds benefiting the Help Fill A Dream Foundation. To purchase, visit www.vicabc.ca/events/builders-in-the-basement
