The Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes (CCBFC) invites all interested parties to take part in its fall 2017 public review of proposed changes to the 2015 editions of Codes Canada publications from November 6, 2017 to January 2, 2018.

This second public review of the 2015 code cycle focuses on changes being proposed to the 2015 editions of the National Building Code (NBC), the National Fire Code (NFC) and the National Plumbing Codes (NPC).

The proposed changes address issues related to:

• Fire protection in Part 3 of the NBC and in Part 5 of the NFC
• Earthquake design in Part 4 of the NBC
• Structural Design in Part 4 of the NBC
• Environmental separation in Part 5 of the NBC
• Farm buildings occupancy classification
• HVAC in Part 6 of the NBC and the plumbing in the NPC
• Housing and small buildings in Part 9 of the NBC
• Encapsulated mass timber construction
• Hazardous material and activities in the NFC
• Asbestos in the NBC and the NPC

With an interim change planned for publication in late 2017, no changes are being proposed for the National Energy Code for Buildings this public review.
